One of the best movements of the festival is the pongal festival as people draw many beautiful sankranthi muggulu with chukkalu along with color designs in front of their homes for the farmers to celebrate the harvest at once a year.

Happy Diwali To one and all! May this diwali light up lives from the darkness. We at home celebrate it by lighting lamps and drawing different kinds of rangoli designs in front of our home and welcome Goddess Lakshmi. Bursting crackers is one of the best enjoyment we acheive on the festival of Diwali.

Happy Diwali!! Thanks for all the wonderful design:))

Hello Friends

Diwali or the "festival of lights", is a five-day Hindu festival which starts on Dhanteras and ends on Bhaubeej. The word DIWALI is originate from the word "DEEP" mean lanterns. On this day, the entire house or there by entire country is decorated with deep.Diwali is an official holiday in India,Nepal and Sri Lanka.Since, it is the biggest festival of India, on this day a row of deep- small clay lamps is lighted tosignify the triumph of good over evil.Satellite image released by NASA- India on Diwali

During Diwali we have a mini vacation in School and colleges for 21 days and Children fire the crackers on the night of diwali.Ofcourse, this will increase the pollution in the environment.

Diwali has its own significance which you can read it by goggling. On this festival the entire house is cleaned and deep is lighted at night.
Diwali Night in India.Last Diwali at Udaipur Rajastan.

It is a Five Day festival and this time in 2013, it is falling on the following dates:
1st November - Dhanteras
2nd November - kali chodus
3rd November - Diwali
4th November - Happy New year
5th November- Bhai Du

Here is the significance of each day:

Dhanteras: On this day Lord Lakshmi, goddess of Lakshmi mean money is worshiped. We cleaned the whole house and worshipped the Lakshmi on this day.So dhan or Lakshmi or money is been worshiped on this day.

Kali chodus: On this day we worshiped the goddess of power Kali. She is most powerful goddess. However, there is some negative belief is also attached to this.It is said that there is use of Black Magic on this day. Some people use the  power charm of lord Kali through Kali vidiya that is black magic and it is been belived that on this day if you wake up at midnight then you will surely find a Ghost wandering. It is said it is a day of all Ghost.

Diwali:In north India, Diwali celebrates Rama's homecoming, that is his return to Ayodhya after the defeat of Ravana and his coronation as king; in Gujarat, the festival honors Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth; and in Bengal, it is associated with the goddess Kali.

Basatu Varas: Basatu Varas mean new year.Like we have a new year on 1st January, as per hindu calender it is on next day of diwali. On this day we wake up early in morning and went to the relative house to wish then happy new year.

Beautiful Rangoli made to welcomed the Guest at home:

Bhai Du: Last day of Diwali. On this day, brother went to the house of sister. It is a day for brother and sister and this day is been celebrated by Brother and sister together.

and of course, none of the festival is been celebrate before a worship of first worshiped god "Ganeshji".Lord Ganesh is worshiped first on every day of celebration and then festival is being celebrated.

Hope you will enjoy the Diwali and Happy Diwali to you all.Happy new year and Pollution free Diwali.
I cannot count my day complete 'til needle, thread and fabric meet.
