Reduce Trims or Jump stitches for better quality designs

Good Embroidery Designer should have low number of trims or jump stitches, in order to speed up the sewing process and to get  high quality embroidery designs.

What is Trims or jump stitches?
Those little jump stitches in your embroidery designs occur when there are areas of a design that are the same color but separated from each other. For professional digitizer you should remove such trims or jump stitches. It is not possible to remove the all stitches but of course one must try to reduce the number of such stitches or trims.IN the following image, the circle and triangle indicate the trims.

How to reduce the number of trims?

Sometimes it is not possible to avoid trim, but digitizer should minimize their number in the design. To avoid too many trims, it is necessary to place start and end point of areas which are close one to the other so that they could be connected with Connection objects. There should be minimum distance between end point of one object and start point of the other, so that connection is as short as possible .

Following tutorial will show you how to remove the trims?

1) Click on run stitches tools to connect the two objects together.

Note: Use same color  to connect the two objects, this is because use of same color thread will hide the stitches used to connect the object and it will not be possible to see the connector easily.

2) Using run stitches connect the object together like shown in below image. Please note that for connecting the two objects together, first of all you must bring the needle point to the starting point indicated by small ‘DOT’ to the ending point indicated by small triangle. This will move the machine to the run stitches area and connect the two object together.
Note: It is not necessary to connect the two nearby object only, but you can even connect the two far object together. The gap between connected objects can be covered by object of another color. In such a case, connection should be hidden beneath this object, even if it is not a nearest point connection. Further you can even use other outline tools to connect the object but ‘Run stitches’ is best option to connect the designs without any evidence showing two object is been connected.

3) After connecting the two object move further and similarly connect the all objects together. This will reduce the number of trims or jump stitches and result in beautiful design.Following image is the one after removing the trims.

FOLLOWING LIVE EMBROIDERY PROJECT IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF REMOVING THE TRIMS.

In above image you will find a small green connecting two part together. In this designs we have use run stitches to connect the designs. This will have dual benefits as below
1) Connect the two object there by reduce the number of trims and make the designs more beautiful
2) It is difficult to identify the run stitches in first instance, it simply get hide behind the fill objects.

So, in this way each every trims is removed and it will improve the quality of the designs.
