Hi

Do you want to generate a list of all Embroidery designs store in your computer for future reference, then follow the following steps.

To generate a list of file names, you'll need to use a DOS command typed in a DOS command window. To open a DOS command window:

1) Click the Windows Start button
2) Click Run
3) Type "cmd" (no quotes) and press Enter. if "cmd" doesn't work, use "command".

You'll get a window like the one shown below.

You can use "cd..", (with out quotes) to come out of the said drive.

If you would  like to see the  list of all files in the root directory of drive D, type the following at the command prompt and press Enter:

dir d:\

This will show the list of all files/folder name in the D drive. Now suppose you want to generate the list of files in a particular folder then type the following formula

dir d:\ particular folder name\

Above formula will show the list of all files name in a folder named as "Particular Folder"

Now suppose you want to generate or save the generated list of files name, then type the below formula

dir d:\ >c:\filelist.txt

The above forumula will generate the list of files name in directory D

Now, Suppose if you want to see the ist the sub directory name then use the below formula

dir d:\ /s >c:\filelist.txt

This will generate the list of files name along with all details. To get the file names only (bare format), use the /b switch:

dir d:\ /s /b >c:\filelist.txt

To find out about other options available for the DIR command (such as including file dates and times), type this command:

dir /?
